Bright Owl Zendala Dare #70

This is my first Zendala dare. I used charcoal for shading. I drew the template by freehand so it's not entirely symmetrical. Black shading at the border is added digitally.

  3. WOW!!!! Stunning! How did you achieve the gold?
That's it, you've inspired me. Will try charcoal shading next.

    1. Aww sadly the gold look is just a result of the creamy hue the paper I used has with a slight dusting of charcoal. The original actually looks much less gold. Too bad :( I am loving shading with charcoal, Zoe. I can't wait to see what you do with it!

    2. I'm trying to figure out how to make it gold though if I wanted to. The charcoal will sit on top of some inks that the graphite wouldn't take to, so I might be able to colour everything with a gold Sharpie and then do the charcoal on top. I'm going to try this with the next one to see how it goes.

  8. The border shading, whether digital or not, definitely adds to the mystical effect. Great zendala!

    1. Thank-you! I like the border too and could probably add that in on my own.
